For many Middletowners, our September Heritage Festival is the start of fall.  We can bring out the pumpkins, pansies, and mums.  As life in Middletown flows into October, we find it is a great time to sip a new local wine on the outdoor porch of The Main Cup, or savor that hot bowl of homemade chili from Dempsey’s Grille.  Grabbing hot chocolate or pizza after a Knights Football game is also part of the fabric of our Octobers in Middletown.   For visitors, it is a wonderful time to experience the beauty of Middletown, surrounded by colorful trees covering the nearby Catoctin and Appalachian Mountains.  Looking for unique local events?  We have them!  The Middletown Valley Community Show that shows off the Valley’s finest harvest and arts and crafts.  On October 17th, our favorite local historian, Larry Bussard will reminisce about growing up in Middletown.  We have two exceptionally fun events on October 20th – the Scarecrows Walk on Main Street and Color Me Autumn.  Both family-oriented events capture the imagination of the fall season!  The Scarecrows Walk on Main Street showcases a street full of over 50 hand-crafted Scarecrows, while Color Me Autumn encourages the family to put on their favorite costumes, decorate a pumpkin (or two) and play games for faBOOlous prizes!  Finally, we round out the fall with our annual Halloween parade on Saturday, October 27.  For more ideas on what to see and do click the tab “Plan Your Visit” and you’ll see the many fun things to see and do!
