We’re excited to bring the bright and colorful artwork of Maryland artist, Parran Collery to Middletown.

Main Street Middletown, in conjunction with the other Frederick County Main Street programs of Brunswick, Frederick, New Market, and Thurmont have teamed up to bring individualized sculptures to each community that are themetically linked.

Part of why we were so excited about Parran’s work is that she encourages public participation in her artwork that gets children and adults engaged in the process!

To participate:

  1. Click here to reserve a tile. Please sign up soon – there are 70 tiles and will be given out on a first come, first served basis.
  2. Pick up your packet: Monday, June 15th starting at 10:00am, please come to 19 West Main Street to pick up your packet that includes a square of clay, a template to create flowers, paint, and a clay shaping tool.
  3. Have fun decorating!

Watch Parran give step-by-step directions here.

Once your paint has carefully dried, we ask that you please return your artwork by gently laying it back into the plastic bag and returning it to the Main Street building at 19 West Main Street on Wednesday, June 24 between 3:00pm and 5:00pm or on Friday, June 26 between 9:00am and 1:00pm.

Installation is scheduled to occur later in the summer or early fall.  A special thank you goes to Bob and Kim Brenengen for allowing us to have the artwork installed in the yard by The Main Cup.
